Construction lines and SpaceNavigator

Hi,

I just noticed that when you set a construction plane, the navigation axes don't change. This isn't a big deal with the standard controls, but it's kind of disorienting with a Spacenavigator. Would it be possible to have a setting to adjust the navigation axes when a cplane is in effect?

Hi Ella, you might want to try the "Free rotation" option which is under
Options > View > Rotate/Pan/Zoom options > Rotation style.

That style of rotation is not tied down to any fixed "up" direction so it won't behave differently if you have a cplane set or not.

Spacenavigator - are those things any good? I've always wondered, but being in Tasmania, Australia, I've never had a chance to play with one at a shop :)

Hi Ella,

I have the Spacenavigator also, it took me a little while to get the feel I wanted, as Michael suggested the first thing, set it to 'Free rotation'
but then you have to play around with the '3DConnexion Options', I'm not at my PC at the moment so I can't tell you exactly what options I've ticked. I know I've ticked 'Allow Rotation Tilt' but the rest I can't remember, if you still have problems let us know and I'll get the exact settings.

@ NightCabbage,

> Spacenavigator - are those things any good?

I've used one for 7 years and now when working 3d without it, it's like I've lost my left arm :) so yes, they're real good!

BTW good to see another Aussie here :)

Cheers from Melbourne

Cool, sounds good - might have to get one :)

Only about $100 - $150 (depending on if you buy the personal edition or standard edition)

That's a great price - how'd you manage that?

I went to 3dconnexion.com.au and they just link to another shop (tip.com.au) which sells it for $143 + delivery lol

Might buy one off eBay...

Comes to about $110 AU delivered now, but that's still a pretty good price...

Cheapest I can find it on eBay is for $105 delivered.

Wonder how long the shipping would take? :P

-EDIT-

And it works with Moi quite well?

I love mine. There's no other feeling like it when whipping around a scene. It's almost like you are holding the object in your hand. It does take getting used to, but it's worth it.
