Trim Idea

Hi!

In the trim command, maybe clicking anywhere on an already selected curve could automatically 'add trim points'?

Hi Marc - it's an interesting idea, but it wouldn't quite fit into the structure of how Trim works currently.

Right now, hit testing is turned off for the original curve when you are at the "Select cutting objects" stage - that helps make it easier to select any cutting objects that may be intersecting the curve.

When you push "Add trim points", then hit testing is turned back on for that curve, and you are in a full point pick type mode where the point pick behaves normally like you see a point tracking around when you move your mouse, etc...

The way that you are talking about would be kind of like trying to pick a point but not having the regular point pick behavior with the point tracking - that's kind of inconsistent behavior.

Hi Michael, thanks for the 'under the hood' clarification!

I also though a couple of times about a key that could trigger 'add trim points' while in trim command.
But then again it might not be possible to do so, but it would be nice.

On another note I've finished the sea kayak project yesterday... 384 hours!!
Lots of cedar trim!

Yes, you can set up a keyboard shortcut that would be the same as pushing "Add trim points" - to do that put the following as the command for the shortcut:
script:moi.ui.fireUIEvent( 'addtrimpoints' );

Congratulations! That sounds very cool. Do you have any pictures you can post to show it off?

Thanks!!

It handles much better than those I used to rent!

The wood has fiberglass inside and outside, a kind of sandwich.
Glassing and epoxy was the hardest part for me .
