Odd File size differences?

Just for interest. (A lot of teeth nashing and booleans not working at times!)

I THINK I started with the same modelling philosophy but notice the huge file size differences.
The more complex one is smaller (one quarter of size!) in 3dm file size?

And I can't upload either of the 3dm files

-----I give up

Hi Brian, it looks like it turned out well in the end!

re: upload - is it possible that you have filled up all of your attachment space?

Each user on the forum has 50MB worth of space that can be used for attachments. If you've already filled up that much, then you will need to either delete some old attachments, or possibly use some file sharing service for sharing the file instead of posting it as a forum attachment.

Unfortunately it is not very feasible to have unlimited attachments since that could possibly fill up the entire web server with files.

Just for interest, of all the forum sites over the years-- most still using many times daily-- this is the only one (minor one ?) where I have ever had any image loading limit reached.

Hi Brian - 3DM files tend to be quite a bit larger than image files, (often by a factor of like 10x or 20x), so if you have a number of them in your previous attachments that may be what is taking up most of the space.

If you remove a couple of old ones of those you would probably have plenty of space for more images.

Maybe on the other forums that you are talking about you posted only image files and not 3DM or other kinds of model data files as attachments? If so then that may be why you haven't run out of space in other places, since image files are smaller.
