Hi Angleo, yes for AI export you probably won't want to write just an entire set of 3D objects to the AI file because you'll get things like duplicated curves because you'll get both front & back edges and things like that.

So you (or your young assistant...) would need to do things like select just the front edges from a slab and then use File / Export which will write just those edges to an AI file and then repeat that for each slab.

One thing that can help with that is that you could select one edge by clicking, and then use a window select to capture other edges - if you did the window select in the Top view you would be able to capture all the edges on the front side of one of those slabs with one strategic window select.

Hi Angelo, Very nice work!

Your router people can receive your 3d model and manage edges as they are in 3d. It may help them to also understand your intent. But you also said your preferance is to try to do as much as you can yourself. (Not passing on the artisticc creation process :)

If you are just making the move to 3d, you may want to get on the phone with them and discuss whats best. Solidworks can import your MoI Models as-is, then that could leave them room to bring it into the CAM side more efficiently.

Good luck, thanks for sharing,
Burr

Hi Pilou

One thing that came to my attention looking at these images is that although they're from different people (I assumed that...) they seems coming from the same place. They share all a common ground.
And resounds something from my father, an old italian carpenter, some vision of art as overcoming on craftmaship, Paganini art : )
(btw. these things are made with rapid prototyping?)

thanks for sharing

Angelo

No all these images and objects are made by the same artist Torlof aka Jotero ;) First on the list of the gallery ;)
He uses different progs TopMod, 3Dsurf, Paraclouds etc...and very often Moi!
3D digital images renders, 3D printing and sometime concrete!
Amazing power of the geometry!

Hi Michael,

I'm trying to use this script (MoveSliceToPoint - four years after...) and seems to be broken in Moi Beta.3.
Can you help me with this?

Best regards!
Angelo

Hi Angelo, I also tested it and it's workiing for me over here in the v3 beta as well.

Do you get some kind of error message displayed when you try to run it or what specifically seems to be broken about it?

As it mentions in the original post: http://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=2749.36 it expects to have a set of points set up for it to use for the target locations, is it possible you did not have the points set up for it?
