Hi,

Is there a way or an option to embed reference images in the 3dm file?

Thanks

Marc

Just put the images in the same folder than your 3DM file!
So if you post it or reload it all will work fine
All images loaded inside the 3Dm file will be back ;)

Hi Marc,

No, there currently isn't any way to actually include the bitmap data itself in the 3DM file.

That would be somewhat difficult because I guess you would need some kind of management interface so that you could update them if you wanted to edit the image in any way. Currently that additional management interface is not needed because you can just edit the image file since it is an external file.

Like Pilou mentions though, you can place any bitmaps in the same folder as the 3DM file and MoI will check for them there if it can't find them in their original path. That may help you if you want to move things around.

Thanks for the tip Mr.Pilou.

But sometimes I come back months later to copy the drawing elsewhere and I often don't remember which images files I was using in it.

It would be much easier to just take the 3dm file alone, I wouldn't mind the few extra pounds added.

Hi Michael,

""I guess you would need some kind of management interface so that you could update them if you wanted to edit the image in any way""

Aaah, did not thought of this detail...

If this is a recurring problem it may be a good idea to place the image in the same folder as the 3DM file, with a related name, right when you first insert it. Then later on it would be easier for you to find all the files since they would be together.

Otherwise, if you need to find out where a particular image is located later on, it is possible to do that by going to the View/Image command, and then pause the mouse over top of the image's file name - there is a tooltip that will pop up that shows you the complete file name path (like "c:\something\something\something\image.jpg").
