Hi Michael and guys!

Unfortunatey I can not set larger resolution then 3000x3000pixel in CaptureViewToClipboard ShortCutscript. I need at least 6000x6000pix.
How can I resolve it?

thx Andras

Hi Andras,

Your gfx card probably don't have enough memory to capture with that resolution.
I can grab a 6000*6000 here, but I have 512 Mb of video memory.

(Looks like 6000*6000 require 103 Mb, at least that's what psp tell me ... )

Well, I don't know myself how it works, but you have to find a solution to free as much memory video as possible.

So until Michael comes here, maybe you should try :

1) reduce your desktop resolution (640*480 or 800*600) ... it's always few mega free
2) disable your second moniteur if you have dual screen
3) close every other softwares, explorer windows etc, ie windows etc ...
4) reduce MoI window as much a possible
5) If you're under vista, maybe disable Aero and all the little tools (I'm not sure how much they impact on the video memory)

256 Mb should be enough for a 6000*6000 ... but maybe it requires more memory than I think.

My experience from Rhino is, that it helps at Rhino to switch off the viewport AA during the screenshot will be shot. Maybe Michael could implement something internal so that the MOI screens itself need less graphic memory. So minimize MoI wouldn't be necessary anymore.

Hi PaQ,

Looks like PSP would use 24-bit pixels for that case.

The video card generally uses 32-bit pixels for color, so slightly more than that for just the color but then for a 3D viewport you also need a depth buffer as well, so double that again.

So you're looking at something like 6000*6000*8 bytes = 275MB.

So that target definitely won't fit within a 256MB card, you would need a 512MB card to get to that level.

Great! I think it's probably going to be hard to get much higher on a 256MB card. If you need to go much higher than that you'll probably need a 512MB card to do it.

Actually, I've already done quite a bit of work on that, which is why MoI works so well on a machine with only 32MB of video memory (see this old thread for when that was improved: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=322.6)

About the only thing left to do would be to temporarily turn off the display completely...

In general if you want to go really high resolution I would recommend having a video card with a larger amount of video memory on it.
