Hi. The gallery/screenshots I've seen so far are very unimpressive. Anyway, i'm sure as real-time rendering will become more common in the next few years, all rendering/animation programs will have advanced real-time display as an basic feature.

Have you seen MAX2010 new tools? Real time animation (viewport capture) that looks like real time rendering! Most impressive, most expensive!

Yes, I've seen the Max videos. Real-time motion blur, soft shadows, etc all look very impressive. But that just reinforces my point... :)

I'm really not sure how accurate this super enhanced preview will be in max. It can be handy for some animation preview maybe, but I don't think it will be accurate enough to setting transparency, refraction, global illumination, displacement map, sss, fur, and the other fancy effects.

There are some other tools much better for this job, like the modo realtime preview, fprime for lightwave, it looks like even v-ray is comming with something similar. It's not really realtime, a little bit grainy, but much more handy to setuping a scene and have an accurate feedback. That's having said I might be wrong, maybe this max10 viewport preview is less eye-candy that I though.
