I would like to do this eventually, but it will be quite a bit of work, definitely after V1.

Instead of having a special sketch-on-surface tool, I was thinking that it would be better if all the draw tools could optionally draw on a surface.

Right ! But I really like the sketch tool. even though onlyusing mouse I can draw a beautiful curve.
