Have I done something wrong in the current version?
I dont seem to get either Freeform or Flat sweeps to work as expected?

Hi Brian, for the "Flat" option to work you will need to orient your helix axis along the world Z axis. That should enable it to work properly.

No, it is something that I want to try to fix up in v2 when I get a chance but I did not expect to get it done for this particular beta. (previous message on it here).

It will probably be when I get a chance to do about a week's worth of work on sweep tuneups. More object property stuff is coming first before that though.

Brian, try to get yourself a bottle of Oregano Oil I can PROMISE you, it will knock out that infection in the fastest way possible.

I'm not sure about the shops where you're located, but here in the states, it is commonly available at the "Vitamin Shoppe" - the stuff is hella expensive though (typically ~$50 for the extra strength ("P73") form of the oil - but it's worth every penny IMO!)

I've been using it for years during the winter time to avoid catching Flus and colds and it hasn't let me down yet.

It saddens me to hear you have a lung infection and I wouldn't have bothered to write all this if I didn't think it would really help you!
