Hi,

When I sketch or even use lines to create a shape, the ends do not necessarily meet so exactly that I can create a planar.

Yes, if I keep magnifying and panning ad infinitum, finally the ends will meet to create an enclosed "shape" that can be made planar.
But this is a pain; I feel certain I am missing something which can easily bring together nearby points, and enclose the shapes quickly, and make planars.

What am I missing?

Nariman.

Do you use object snap? It's easy to connect end-points that way.
It's next to grid and straight snap.

HI Nariman - yes, as Edwin mentions the best way to make things match up is to have Object Snap turned on (it will get that orange highlight on the button when it is on). When that is turned on, it should help you lock points on to existing geometry so that for example a line that you draw will be locked in to the right spot when you initially draw it.

If you're having difficulty with something in particular, can you please post an example model so I can get a better idea of what's happening?

Dear Michael, dear Edwin,

Thank you very much; works like a charm.
I wonder why it did not come to me. Actually, I had tried object snap, saw that all options were ticked on (by default?)
and assumed that THAT was turning it on. Just an idea: while having the button turn orange, could a little Tick or x, or alternately
the words "on" or "off" come on? It would aid intuition alone...

Warmest regards,
Nariman.

Hi Nariman, I'm glad that it is working for you now.

I actually tried a couple of variations of this initially, but it increased the size of the buttons which then caused the bottom toolbar to not fit on a 1024x768 resolution screen anymore...

I often times run into problems where I need to limit the size of various controls, so compromises like this have to be made.
