This is a brother to my Bison tank, discussed elsewhere in this board. I'm going to try Print a Part as per Crusoe's suggestion

This new one looks great too!

When you get the results from Print a Part could you please post a photo of the result? I think that many people would be interested to see it.

You'll have some rough patches due to supports, but these usually disappear in molding. Are you going with resin or metal?

One thing you may encounter is a waxy sheen left over. If you put the part in baking soda, and bake in an oven for several hours at around 190F, this will draw out a large part of the wax. Then soak for a short time in rubbing alcohol, scrub with a old toothbrush, and then you can hit with some goo-b-gone, and windex for a final rinse.

I only do these steps for vulcanized molds, which can react with the wax that is used as the support material.

Thanks, Crusoe. It sounds like you've had some experience with this sort of thing; what neat doo-dads have you printed via PrintAPart?

I was initially displeased with PrintAPart's output but the results of RTV silicon casting are pretty nice. I guess the waxy support stuff works its way inbetween the print layers and helps smooth things.

The layers always look worse than they are. Any striations will be hidden by primer/paint.
