You have such a way with words Brian ;-).

P.s. the beautiful thing about vacuum distillation is that by using as a source of energy 60-70°C hot water flowing in a copper tube spiral inside the boiler the boiler itself can be made of plastic, e.g. the boatbuilders favorite .......GRP. By applying sufficient vacuum the boiling point could be kept around 30-40°C thus facilitating the transfer of heat/energy from the hot water to the fermented/boiling liquors.

Yes actually it is. The hot water just comes out of the tap, costs very little and by assuring enough surface area for efficient heat transfer into the fermented mash you can achieve high wattage/energy tranfer per time unit thus distilli large amounts in a relatively short time. Besides the use of hot water greatly reduces the fire hazard compared to using natural gas/propane or electricity.
