Is anyone out there going from MoI NURBS to Maya NURBS? If so, please tell me about your work-flow - what file format are you exporting as to import into Maya? What export options work best for you? Any suggestions would be great.

I have tried exporting to .igs, bit it comes out really wonky - I see NURBS planes in strange places (that I did not create).

Hi Phr0stByte,

Got good result using .step format, as .igs giving lot of trimmed surface error.
That said I was using renderman at that time, so I didn't had to fight with any tesselation settings.

Hi Phr0stByte, I've heard of a lot of problems in the past with Maya's IGES import, I think it has had bugs in it for quite a long time now. Unfortunately it does not seem to have been a priority for them to get it fixed up...

It sounds like maybe .step / .stp format import may be newer and work better?

Most of the time exports to Maya use polygons and .obj format.

Thanks guys. I use linux, and come to find out - no direct-connect for maya on linux. That really sucks... I will check my Maya installation at work, and see if it has it - it is a Windows box (unfortunately, the only place I can use MoI too).
