Nectaris S-61 'Bison' Tank

This is an homage piece to one of my favorite strategy games, Nectaris (called Military Madness here in the US). As designed, it's intended for a 6mm-scale miniature tank game.

I'm in the process of getting it quoted for 3D printing, then I'll cast it in resin myself.

Does anybody want the 3DM file? I'm no good at rendering... yet.

Otterman! I would really like to give it a shot at rendering!
I would use electric image if I had the file.

Here you go...

Note that it's 2 single boolean unioned pieces. That's important to 3D printers.

The original design had some interesting antennae action on the turret. I left them off since they wouldn't survive the print process, but it would look nice in a render. I'll probably use some etched brass pieces on the real thing.

Here's a quick render, I don't have the time to really shade it (textures, uv's etc ...)
Let me know if you're looking for an other point of view, or a bigger shot

Here is a bit of a fun render in Carrara 6 Pro.

Here's the result of using GrowIt to make the 3D print. Their resolution wasn't as good as I hoped, so for now on I'm going to continue using Todd Boyce / NinjaMagic.

You can also try printapart.com. Not as fine a finish as NinjaMagics machine, but the prints are more durable, and the detail IS sharper than the Objet. What layering there is, covers fine with primer/paint.

I as well, have been disappointed with the objet finish. The details seem to 'melt' a bit.
