Hi Michael and Friedns
This is an exercise that I have made approximately a year makes in occasion of Hallowin,
that I have sent to the Forum of the Tspline Program Plug-in of Rhino
The images that you see are renderizzate with Rhino Render
without the application of texture or bump-
This that you see and the resolution of the superfaces ones obtained, that they can be imported in moi from Rhino-
All the built of the shapes has been made in poligonal and translate in Ts-Surface-
For the realization of the organic shape, especially vegetables, as in this case , Plug-in Tspline it is a unparalleled instrument
I augur myself that in future this Plug-in it can in some way
it can be implemented in this program-
best
al
Sorry for my bad english

Hi Brian,

>>NOW, you must explain how you did it! Please!

Very simply for that model

Create a sphere. Then in one of the 2d views draw the curves for the pattern of the veins:

Project those curve to the sphere surface. (you could of course of drawn those directly to surface if wanted in V2)

Sweep circles (or whatever shape you think best) on the surface curves with the "pointy end" option.

Once done, you can then trim the sphere in half, and boolean the main vein.

Using a control point curve, start at one of the intersections then draw using "on surface" snap the shape of the outside of the leaf, then finish the curve at the other intersection (as next pic)

Using the drawn curve, trim the sphere.

Hope I have explained OK.

Hi steve:
This picture is real. They develop the watermelons into a box, and obligate them to get this shape. :-)

I hope you enjoy this first, rough, effort with you ideas.

Great fun!

Good, also, to see others enjoying the learning principles involved.

Now it's the Cauliflower and the Broccoli!

Hi Brian,

I see you have the idea, and the render is looking good.

I have had one last play with this as I wanted to see if I could get a more organic shape. I have not added too much detail, as I want to move on to some projects I wanted to start a while ago.

The cauliflower head, trying to get a small file size, is a problem.
Here is one poor result, from a MoI file, with some Carrara texturing.

All ideas welcome.

More on Cauliflower.

This image shows what can be done with Surface Replication in Carrara.

Is this working method one that has potential to be added to say the MoI Array options?

I use it a lot in Carrara. It would be a great option in MoI.

More Cauliflower.

Still not particularly exciting, but showing using the Carrara Replicator to produce the core piece.

Hi Brian,

That is starting to look good.

May I make a suggestion?

Instead of just using one sphere for the inside core of the cauliflower, use several different sizes booleaned together to create a surface, then add the "replicator surface" of smaller spheres in Carrara:-

A very quick example:-

Just a quick test of the principle.
Much more realistic.
Thanks again.

After a bit of work in Photoshop, I think!!!!, I may have come up with a good texture for the cauliflower "flower".

If you have Carrara, let me know if you would like the .cbr file.
