Yes Moi is perfect for kids!
Does he use mouse or pen graphic?
After he must try Artrage for painting it !

Et en fançais çà marche pas l'interface? :D
Il faut pas me donner des vapeurs comme çà! :)

He's using the tablet moslty, but I suppose he just wan't to do like me.
I've put Zbrush in his hand too, but it wasn't so conclusive, get only big blob objects back :)

I didn't think about artrage for the painting, I will have a look. I'm looking around for an easy rendering/animating software too.
Something where he can easily animate what he builds. But that's not a so easy task.
Next step is to export some cars for trackmania :)

(L'interface française ne peut que bien fonctionner cher Pilou, mais là c'est moi qui m'y perd ... j'ai developpé un lexique franglais depuis toutes ces années,
je welde, j'extrude, je fillète :P ... la belgique quoi !)

As Artrage is a simulation painting prog there is not function "filling with paint"!
But as there is "stencil" it's not so difficult to put a stencil over something and paint with a big brush :)

Does trackmania has always a free version? (kids have used that some years ago)
Funy of this prog was the possibility to build the race track

problem of all the animation render for kids is the Interface!
I believe there is only one http://www.cosmicblobs.com/software/deluxe.html
But maybe it's too basic?

For the french interface words were choosen for their length under the icon! It was a task :)
English is so compact! See the German or Spanish version, but champion are Dutch they suffer ;)

Fantastic PaQ, it is so cool to hear that! Off to an early start! :)

Would he like to put them in the gallery? (http://moi3d.com/gallery/)

It would be great to get MoI more introduced into schools for younger people to use, the focus on being easy to use really seems to make it a good fit for an early introduction to 3D modeling.

It is just really fun to hear about your son using it!

That's so cool PaQ, like father like son.

I love kids imaginations when it comes to these things, I like the one with the giant robot and the tiny trucks attacking :D

Cheers
~Danny~

Awesome! MoI's user friendliness really caters towards the short attention span of kids. And then captures them once the imagination kicks in. Great tool!

@Pilou

Thanks for the link, interesting software, but indeed it's probably a little bit basic for him allready, but we will have a look.
About Trackmania I don't know about a free version, he has the full game since 2 years I guess (and he's still contruct tracks with it :)).

@Michael

I was sure you'll like it:) ... and of course you can put it in the gallery !!! , it will make him really proud (and me even more).

@Danny,Lemo,jbshorty

Thanks for your kind comments guys !!! (I was also amazed by the acer logo, I didn't show him the text tool Oo)

This is absolutely too cute! :-)

Congrats, Paq!

-Will

PS - Don't forget trueSpace was released for free, and there's always Blender, or Anim8or.

Carrara or something like Bryce or Vue D'Espirit may be better though...

PPS - Here's a great book to whet his appetite for creating graphics:
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Sci-Fi-Art-Step-Step/dp/0060724331/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222786827&sr=1-1

This book covers creating scenery using Poser, Bryce, Photoshop and the other major 3D players - great read, above all else, inspiring pictures! ;-)

Thanks a lot for all your links :)

I definitively have to install him Sketchup, the wrong side is that I have to learn it a litte bit myself before, and to be honest it's not the kind of software I like.
That's said, some works done with sketchup are really amazing (the black hawk !!!!!!), proving again that the soft doesn't really matter, the artist/user does.

The physic engine for sketchup seems to be quite fun too, I will dig in it this weekend.
Thanks again !

Don't lost time to make yourself some ruby!
The language "Ruby" is not very easy!
Use the scripts "ready made" is more efficient!
Only geek can make that! Scripting ;)
And generaly a good scripter is not a good modeler and vis versa :)
Too more time too learn scripting or too more time to learn modeling!

The 10 scripts that I have given are sufficient for modelise quasi anything!
