Hi Pilou,

> Yes without extra plug you must make only one
> surface "Push Pull" in the same time!

I see - but that means that you were not including all steps in your progression you showed above, you made 5 steps look like 1 step there!

The other thing I noticed is the move * 5 part - I didn't even know you could do that in SketchUp so that is interesting, but it seems that you have to apply the * 5 only after you have copied one item, so you don't really get a chance to dynamically see all 5 items and be able to adjust the spacing with them with the mouse? Unless I am missing something about how it works?

Notice in my video that you get dynamic feedback of the items while in the Array Dir command.

That's actually another part that just feels more dynamic and actually more like drawing for the MoI method for this particular model.

Of course I have resumed in "words" in my schema concept else image will be too big!
(5 "push" in the same drawing ;)

The "*" or the "/" are very interesting because that works also for the rotations !

That is very similar to the Array Dir but of course without the "dynamic fead back" ! More rustic!

You must know at the start some measures!

Hi Pilou,

> You must know at the start some measures!

Not if you want to just do a quick sketch!

More dynamic feedback tends to help a lot when you are primarily trying to just quickly draw some idea you had in your head.

Hi Pilou, new record in MoI using keyboard shortcuts = 40 seconds! (screen capture video below)

I believe I have fewer steps to complete than you do, so I suspect it will be a lot more difficult than you think to get your version down to 30 seconds... See if you can prove me wrong! ;)

I think you will be surprised how fast 30 seconds actually goes by.

You have also some speedy shortcuts ;)

Double-click inside a surface = select the surface + around lines of this surface
(used for select the "rectangle")

"M" + Ctrl = copy + move (used for copy twice the "rectangle" before the "/" between them )

Triple click = Select all (used for the last mirror)

Now I must make some training for have any "idle times" :)

Hi Pilou - but what is your current time to complete your method?

Maybe you can just time it with a stopwatch instead of making a screen capture, just to get an idea.

I am making a little video with the complete concept
And after with training between each states I believe that 30 seconds is possible!
But it's more like a task than a comfortable exercise :)

Hey Pilou,

You French must have some strong coffee over there, if you could model that fast I'd hire you on the spot ;)
Sketchup on steroids!!?

Cheers

Hi Pilou, I downloaded it but it seems that your capture is not a 1:1 "realtime" recording, I don't see any elapsed time shown and it seems to be recording only certain key frames, and skipping things like many mouse movements...

How much actual time does that take up?

My recording is an actual real-time recording, I mean every second that passes in the recording I showed above is an actual second of modeling time, not artificially faster like yours!!! ;) (That is cheating!!!!!!!)

see the counter time clock watch on the right down corner of the screen 13 03, 13 04
I have not seen exactly when I started but that take less a minute and I don't make especially speedy moves only concept!
Sure it's not real time !
But I am not yet enough trained!

Hi Pilou,

> see the counter time on the right down corner of the screen 13 33, 13 34

Yeah, but that's very inaccurate - if you started at 13:03:00 and ended at 13:04:59 , that is possibly up to 1 minute 59 seconds.

Don't you have a watch? Just time yourself with a watch instead of doing the screen capture.

With many errors and hesitation 45 seconds!
So with a good training, a good tempo, I can make around 30 seconds!
But it's very sportive and not very relaxing! A very big pressure!

And I can win some seconds with icon's functions near the drawing on a flying panel!

I'm afraid scetchup has run into what MoI was intentionally designed for! It will never happen. Even if you practice and become repetitive with THIS model to get the time down, MoI user could practice the time down more also....

ClickCtrl+mAlt+e20ClickclickCtrl+lAlt+e15Shift+bClickClick!!!!!!!!!

1.4 Seconds!!!! :)

If the Modeling steps were changed around, then MoI would be back to quick and you would have to practice the new steps??

Watching with anticipation!

It's like a Clint Eastwood movie "The French, The MoI and of course me....The UGLY!" :)

Hi Pilou,

Hey, it's not definite until you prove it! :)

You can't claim 30 seconds unless you can do it in 30 seconds, until then you can only claim 45 seconds!!!! :)

Using a circle and boolean merge (instead of drawing an arc and using difference) I removed a few picks from the MoI solution - new world record in MoI = 34 seconds! (video below).

Also my system is kind of sluggish when running the screen capture, I would probably be able to go faster without the capturing on...
