Good morning, I'm Michele from Italy and 28 years old.
I'm a footwear designer and sometime industrial designer.
I work on Cinema 4d and Vray from 8 years and 3 days ago my friend say to me: Take a look to MOI3D it's powerfull and i 've downloaded the demo.
I would to like to use this software because work with nurbs, actually i work with boxmodeling technique but is not precise like nurbs.
I love to design cars but i dont know the real workflow for it.
Can you post some pictures step to step for make a realistic model of a car? I've tried lot but without results!!! Online there are tutorials but not for Moi, for me is a new world and very difficult.
this is my blog you can see some of my work: http://fabbricadigitale.blogspot.com
Thanks a lot, ciao!

Michele

Hi Michele, welcome to MoI!

Unfortunately modeling a car is a really pretty difficult task, you should be prepared to spend quite a bit of time refining techniques to get good at doing that.

It's not really an area that I have a lot of experience in so I won't really be able to help you very much with it myself, sorry!

Probably your best bet is to look for some car tutorials that were done using Rhino, here are a couple of links that may be useful to help get you started:

I would really recommend starting out with some more simple models first so you can get more accustomed to how the NURBS modeling toolset works first before trying to tackle such a difficult model.

There are some video tutorials available here:

And some other ones listed here:

Going over those non-car tutorials would probably be a good step in the right direction because it would help to get you more familiar with the general toolset first.

Hi michele,
This forum is invaluable to learn MoI and Nurbs modeling in general.

For a long time I couldnt figure out "How someone could create a car" as when I started modeling one for myself, trying to make 1/8th inch sheetmetal would take all my resources of my computer to make 2 doors!

After sticking around here a bit I found that only surfaces are used to do this.

Here is a link from awhile back that has a model you can load and look at for inspiration and reference.

Good luck,
Burr
