Another free renderer

Hi All,

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I noticed today that a free version of Renditioner is now available.
It works with SketchUp only, so you'd need to export a .3ds model from MoI and then bring it into SketchUp (which also has a free version).
However, it seems that the .3ds format in SketchUp is kind of rough looking, so I'm not sure how useful this renderer will be for MoI users.
But, I did read on another MoI post that it's possible to smooth the .3ds facets in SketchUp, so I thought it might be worth a look.

"A Free Version of IDX Renditioner Express is now available for the PC version of SketchUp. This is the first free fully integrated, one-click easy photorealistic renderer. It is great for personal use or posting images on the web and is available for unlimited commercial or personal use.
The free version of IDX Renditoner Express includes all the same features as IDX Renditioner but differs in render size and possibly speed.
IDX Renditioner Express (Free) supports a maximum render size of 640 x 480 pixels".

But this plugin work with Sketch UP Pro or also with the free edition of Sketch UP?
I ask because I'm a Fryrender user and, if I remember well, Sketch Up (not PRO) is not supported (can be a right limitation for the free version) due to some legal issue.

Thanks
Luca

< "SU Podium works with Google SketchUp 6 or 5, Pro or Free, Windows or Mac."
Podium support both version but after for commercial use I don't know legal issue.
But when you need commercial use of progs these one are not expensive in pro version ;)

I have had good luck with Indigo, Kerkythea, Lux Render, Yafray, Blender, and Sunflow. All free, some open source.

Kerkythea imports MOI obj with no issues. I was then able to set up a scene and assign materials easily. With most of the others, you need to import into Blender and then export to the other renderers (of course you can export from most commercial applications to Indigo, Lux, Yafray, etc, but that defeats the purpose of a free renderer.)

K E R K Y T H E A !!!

Try it and I am sure you will love it!
Many rendering options, you can have fast biased renders for preview or for tight deadlines, and you can have unbiased rendering for really great quality....

Other renderers mentioned like Indigo for example, are great, but Kerkythea has much to offer.... The last version is great....
I own Maxwell which I like very much but I use Kerkythea very often too!

There are many nice material libraries to use and the forum is a great help.... I have the same nickname there (JTB) so don't hesitate to ask me what you need

Here's one of my Galacteers Class 1 Model that I have posted that I rendered in Kerkythea. This was using an unbiased setting and I didn't bake it long enough to get rid of the noise.

Here is the same image after a noise removal filter. It cleans it up nice.

it uses the 2 methods(unbiased (slow),and biased (speedy)) and seems one of the more advanced easy render to use (if possible) :)
But I have no time to learn all functionnalities and prefer simplicity of Podium or direct material render of Zbrush
Seems you must go to the Kerky forum for special question of use if tutorials shown are not sufficient

I know it's not normally free but there are so many useful extras that it will combine with the MoI workings----Carrara 6 Std or Pro.
Carrara5 has been available with 3dWorld---FREE! Truly a $1000 app! (For those like me who have paid top dollars for Carrara over the years---WE CRY!)

Well, I am an engineer so I think you wouldn't be interested for architectural renderings.... You will find many examples in KT gallery....Also take a look at the forum galleries....
OK, this is an example, just a wip....Btw, the design is not mine, it is an ugly building....
