I created a shape using polyline tool, and then I extruded it. Now I want to filet/bevel enges. I select an edge, click Filet, set radius and nothing happen. What is the right way to do it?
Thanks.

Hi there!.

The filleting function doesn't report errors in the current beta version of MoI. It sounds like you probably set the fillet value too high. Try setting it to something low like 0.2 and see if that produces anything. If a low value works then you know that the surface can be filleted. So then it's just a matter of gradually increasing the value until you get the ideal fillet.

You'll find that on the odd occasion that the fillet function will refuse to fillet no matter what value you enter. I'm guessing that's because the geometry in the selected area is a little too complex.

Early days yet!.

It currently isn't fixed to any particular unit system, it's just a generic "unit". It can be whatever you decide it is as long as you treat it in a consistent manner.

I know that this can be confusing, I expect to add a proper unit setting pretty soon.

Can you please post the .3dm model file with your shape? That would help to figure out what is going on. In general you should be able to do a fillet using the steps that you describe.

From your description I can't figure out what might be going wrong in your particular case, I'll need to see the model file.

Well, unfortunately the fillet probably won't make huge leaps and bounds in improvement by the V1 release. There will probably be some progress from fixes made by the guys who provide my geometry library, but it will be something that will likely be incrementally improving over a pretty long period of time.

It is a very difficult area to nail down really well, especially in places where a bunch of things are coming together.

MoI should handle relatively simple cases well, but if you really need to do a lot of more complex filleting where MoI isn't handling it for you, you'll probably need to look into one of the more traditional solid modeler tools like SolidWorks, Alibre, Inventor, ProE, SolidEdge, etc...

Thanks guys for responses. I followed what Wibble said (small radius of fillet) and I got it :)
