Hi Michael,
I did a work around for myself for the lack of flow type tool, I put the first setting on the line then started dragging the other settings to the line, and using the rotate tool above each setting turned it at the angel I wanted, then fine tuned it onto the line, works for me :) This was inspired by Colin.

The attachment is the original ring we were working on, I wanted a way of taking a strip style setting and making it flow onto the ring, what I did was to draw a circle appox. 18mm, then start by dragging the center setting up to it, use the Boolean- diff command and make a curved bottom, then drag the second setting up, using the Beta2 built in rotate tool I turned the setting to the angle I wanted then dragged onto the circle and repeated the Boolean command again, I also did some mirror settings that were in place on the circle to speed up the process, and magic... I got what I wanted without Rhino :)

Great looking ring!

Another way that you can place multiple/various sized settings on a band is to do a circular array, experimenting with the number and sizes of the settings...once you get the spacing and number of settings the way you wish, you can delete the ones you don't need. You can also rotate the whole assembly so that the setting you're currently working on is at the 12 O'clock position, making it easier to build bezels, prongs, etc.
