Insert new text

 From: falcon76 26 Jun 2008  (1 of 15)
I'm modeling a keyboard (it's only an exercise), but after a bit I wasn't able to insert new text. Simply the word doesn't appear..... Is there a limit? I try to simplify the scene but after another ten new text it stops again. Thanks Luca Attachments:

1720.6 In reply to 1720.1 Hi Luca, There does appear to be a problem/bug with the text. I am seeing where MoI will no longer allow the creation of further text. A save file/exit MoI, then restart MoI/load file does fix the problem(on my test).

1720.7 In reply to 1720.6 Thanks manz for the interest. Yes it's what I'm actually doing, but after sometimes I can add only two or three text. I have sent the model to michael..... at least is not just me. Ciao Luca

1720.8 In reply to 1720.7 Hi Luca, It is a problem I have not seen before, mainly as I do not use text much in MoI, but I do now see that it can happen even after just making a few inserts of text, I can see it could be very irritating. You could open a second MoI, then create the text in that, then copy/paste the text over, but even that could be a pain.

1720.9 In reply to 1720.8 Hi Luca, Hi Steve, I see what happens. When you get to the first stage of the Text command, where it asks you for "Pick base point", if you right-click there instead of picking a point it will cancel the command and mistakenly set the default font name to be blank. (this is kind of easy to do if you are using right-click to repeat the command a bunch of times). Then if you run the command again after having done that, you'll see that the Font: dropdown (where you pick the font name like Arial, Times New Roman, etc...) is actually blank instead of having a font name filled in there. If you try to create text with the font name blank like that it will fail. So a quick fix for the moment is if you see the command fail, fill in the Font: dropdown name so it has a proper font name in it and then it should work again. I think I should be able to fix this pretty easily with just an update to the Text command script file, I will take a look at that just shortly. - Michael EDITED: 26 Jun 2008 by MICHAEL GIBSON

1720.10 In reply to 1720.1 Hi Luca, I've attached a fix here. To install the fix, unzip the attached Text_fix.zip file to get Text.htm, then copy that file over top of the old version inside of the \commands subfolder inside of MoI's main installation folder (like c:\Program Files\MoI 1.0\commands). With this update in place the Text command should not get "stuck" anymore. Please let me know if you still run into the problem after installing the fix and thank you for reporting the bug! - Michael Attachments:
