WIP - Stairs

Hello Moiers,

Here's a little model I'm happy to share, I still have to improve the floor a little bit (chaos is a pain to recreate :P).
Everything is modeled in Moi of course (it's not a super complex model :P), except the leaves.

Any comments are welcome.

Wow very cool shading/texturing!

The floor debris looks very chaotic/natural to me already..

Brilliant piece of work.
What rendering app?
Did you use the Ivy Gen app?
Love the shards on the floor/steps---how did you do this?

Well---there's a start of a few questions!

That looks really great,

i`m also interested in the shards :-)
And how have you done the last stair, with the broken edge on the lefthand side?
Is it just booled away?
Question after question ;-)

Cheers
Dirk

- Render in modo 203
- Indeed I use ivy generator (freeware)
- The shards are done in max, using a particle system to spread few particule, and using a simple shape of the building for the collision (thanks to the meshing tool I was able to rebuild a super low version of my scene). Then I replace the particles by a couple of shards, with a vertical random rotation. A little script help me to freeze the system and export them back in modo.

Thanks for you positive comments :)

Edit: Yes Vinced, I juste did some boolans (merge with few polylines)

Ahhhh-----so you created the Shards in MoI!. GREAT!

In Carrara I could use that method with the Surface Replicator onto the steps or whatever.
VERY educational thread---thanks mate!

Well since Moi I just can't use anything else, even for simple tasks :P (moreover it's the only software I still can use smoothly when
all my 4 cpu cores are rendering Oo)

I love it! Wonderful work!

I agree, Brian about the replicator in Carrara - that's a wonderful tool for creating chaos in your scenes - I was just reading Bill Fleming's "Advanced Photorealism Toolkit" the other day - Photo Modeling in fact. (A technique similar to those programs that let you take a picture and draw primitive shapes to match the objects in the photo and then projection map the photo onto the objects for better 3D realism in your still shot...)
