Select Control Points?

Hi Group,

Im using Tony's (-ash-) Interface which is great btw http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1521.1

Select by 'type' works well but seemingly cv's are not classed as point geometry as they do not select, we would like to modify/tweak
things this wa...is this possible within MoI or does anyone have a script.

On the subject of points & adding points, I don't seem to be able to add points to surfaces only curves ?

TIA,
--Paul

Hi Paul,

Such as "select all surfaces" or "select all solids" is a good option. But to select all control points is simply a way to select that object with that control. For some way to select control points there would have to be a way to shift (for lack of better word) between each point. Certainly would be good, but ability of that is questionable.

The control points on surface, that goes to nerbs surface creation (trimmed/untrimmed surface) and is certainly a point I need to avoid trying to explain.)certainly today lol

Hi Paul, yeah right now it is not possible to do that because control points are not really set up as an individually addressable object (with its own ID and own entry in the geometry database) like other objects are.

That's something that may be possible to do in the future, but I have hesitated to do it initially because it may cause quite a few problems with data size bloating because it would mean having a fair amount of additional information recorded for every point, and a large model may have surfaces in them with many control points in each surface.... Leads to a potentially large increase in overall memory consumption.

Because of those problems I'll probably have to come up with a separate way to address control points through scripts, I haven't had a chance to really get to that yet though.

Yeah MoI is missing that currently. In general surface point modification is not a major focus area for MoI version 1.0, but it is something that I want to fill in more in the future.

Hi Michael,

I was just curious if it was something I had overlooked thats all, manual selection is cool at least I can still get my jobs done!!

Another Q: to save on more posts !!

- In the 3D viewport im finding it difficult to zoom way in sometimes, the zoom by area/target does help somewhat but can we have
an option in options>view for parallel projection?

Many thanks,
--Paul

Added to the wishlist - it should not be too difficult to add when I get a chance to focus on some view-related stuff.

One thing that can also help is after you have placed the target point with zoom area, use the zoom button on that viewport toolbar just to the right of it - you can click and drag slightly up or down on that to get a much more gradual and small zoom adjustment than generally happens with the scroll wheel.

But yeah if you get really really close to something the perspective near clipping planes will kick in and it will get clipped from view.
