I created it that small because i use the actucal size of the cell phone in mm. But maybe i scale bigger.
Ok, for example, i created an extruded circle to cut out the shape of the sensors via boll. difference.

I want to do the same with the speaker. Cutting out a bit of the hull. So i extruded this shape you see in the file and with bool difference i tried to cut it out.
Do you know now what i mean?

Edit:

I added a pic. On which you can see the whole i extruded. I marked also an edge. And i want this edge to be filleted. But this doesnt work. The former curve is also now seperated into a view pieces. I selected all edges and clicked join to get the former shape back. But again fillting it doesnt work.

Hi sayd,

Edit:

Ah, right,

You will need to select all around the area to fillet:-

To just make fillet on the lines you show, then you would need to construct either the actual fillet, or a part to boolean away

I just move the extruded object down and bool diff. Hmm sorry i can quite follow you.

I attached a new file. The whole is already cut out of there. But still i cant fillet the edges. Thats my question, why cant i fillet it.
If you would take a look at the file.

Edit.
Thank you.
^^ you edited it ^^. Ok now its works. But why cant i just only fillet the upper side?

Do you have any advice how to make the keys?
I would create small boxes for the keys. Array them around. Because the cell phone has some serious light effects (mayebe u know) i have to cut some space around the keys out to get a plane there, so that i can texture it at a later time.

edti2: Do you have any idea how i should create the speaker itself? Create a plane and cutting out the whole via a box and bool diff and array tool?

The inside single edge can be filleted, but the outside is a problem:-

I will show you a way to cut out the top part using construction/boolean (I will then look at your other questions,... just give me 10 minutes)

>>>Do you have any advice how to make the keys?

I will have a search to find some pics of the phone, so I can better see what is needed. We can then work through how to create.

I know now where the problem was. I used to use a rectangle which i planed and then use the fillet on it to get round corners. So the final fillet on the hull itself only works with both sides.

If i use the rectangle tool instead with the -create round corners box checked its possible to create a fillet on the hull with only the upper edges!

Hi sayd, I'm sorry I'm not really following along very well with what you are describing here.

Are you still having problems here?

At one point you seemed to be asking about filleting these 2 edges only:

Generally that's not possible to fillet just a couple of edges out of a smooth edge group like that.

To attempt it would mean creating something like this:

You can see there that the red circled areas would be a kind of hole or gap that would be created in the model if you tried to only cut away just that small area of the model, part of filleting involves removing material...

So I don't quite understand what you were asking for in this case.

Nevermind michael, it already got solved. :)

Now im asking myself how to create the speaker and the keyboard. Due to the lighting effects, i guessed i cut out the grid for the keys to get a plane under it , so i can later create the emissive lightning texture.

Hi sayd,

>>>i guessed i cut out the grid for the keys to get a plane under it

Yes, I would do it that way. I would boolean out the numbers/letters and make them too deep so a plane can be put in place for the texturing.

How would you create the earpiece grid? boolean too?

Which part? Do you mean the grid on the back of the phone?

The detail does depend on what the model is needed for. If you are creating the model to then make close renders, then I would say to add as much detail as possible. But if it is going to used as a prop in a scene, then small detail can be added with texture maps.

yes, i do wanna make close up renders.

I attached a pic where you can see what i mean. Would be grateful if you let me know, how you would do this.

Hi sayd,

>>>I attached a pic where you can see what i mean.

I had not seen that detail on the pics, so sorry for my confusion.

You will need to create a separate part for that, as you have already boolean out that ear piece.

There are different ways to construct the grid, by either creating a solid shape then boolean out the holes, or by creating the cross sections and boolean them together, or you could even draw the full shape (with holes) and then extrude.

I decided to make the cross sections out of long cubes, I made 2 that crossed each other, then made straight array (which made the needed copies), then boolean together.

The array tool I used for this was the Dir (direction)

I first created 2 long cubes and rotated as needed:

Then selected Array/ Dir

Place the number of copies (top right)

Then select a base point and move the cursor in the direction you want the copies to be made.

The Grid Array is slight different.

First you will have the object to Array:-

Select the Grid Array

Enter the number of copies (how many you want in each direction)

Then enter the spacing:-

OR, use the pointer to set the distance

When done, the Array is made.
