Ha! Very impressive. I noticed that black strips on the leading edge of wing....I thought the B17 hadn't had a "goodrich", i.e. mechanical de-icing system... but I was googling and yes, it had :)

Oh, it certainly is too clear Michael. The next major task is texturing the whole aircraft part of which will be the glass. Right now it has nothing. Then I have to add all the interior, gunners, pilots, bomb aimers, sights etc., etc.

Loooooooong way to go yet :)

Then also there has to be way more B17's in the shot and some fighters in the distance and some smoke on the ground....

I'm tired just thinking about it now :)

I don't have Carrara to to try that but I do have a scheme in mind for adding rivets (in Lightwave). WWII enthusiasts are really picky so the rivets have to to in their actually locations (thousands of them). That will be fun...

Here's a little more work on texturing this one. Obviously, there are still parts missing (some guns, interior etc). Just working on the skin.

I'm working a bit on the glass. Here's a few closups.

How do you manage each parts?
Export / Selected , Import or do you work with only one model?

Actually, in this case I exported the entire model. Some of the small parts like gun barrels etc. were done in Lightwave.

Finally got around to doing some more on this one. I still haven't done the interior and crew and a few small details outside. The other B17's are just clones right now, I'll individualize them later. The two jets are clones as well. The pilot said he saw 2 Me262's go by on that mission.

Thanks guys! I have MoI to thank for the smooth model. The B17 is a difficult shape with lots of odd blends. MoI was a lifesaver!

This one is getting close to done so I thought I'd post it. I still have to do the gunners inside and a lot of small fixes.

Yes, but it took a lot more people ;). MoI has reduced it to 1 (but I'm not sure if mine would actually fly).

It is amazing what they accomplished in short order with no computers at all.
