Hi Pilou.
Yes, I checked carefully, but my PC calendar and clock are correct. It's very strange, this is the first time I have this problem with a trial version of some software. Could it be a problem of the file in the download area or I am the only one to have the problem?

Ciao

Antonino

Hi Antonino, I've had just a couple of reports of this so far.

The protection wrapper system that enforces the "trial mode" seems to get confused on some people's machines.

Can you please give me some more details about your system configuration, like are you running on Vista or XP? Do you normally run as an administrator or as a limited user?

If there is anything else that you can tell me about your particular system configuration it could help me track down the problem.

If I can figure out what the problem is, I should be able to release a new version of the trial that fixes it.

Hi Michael.

My system is a Core 2 Duo 6300, with 2 GB of RAM. The video card is an ATI 1950 Pro. I run Vista Business (original), usually as a normal user (actually Vista always ask confirmation before installing new programs).
When trying to remove the trial version, today I noticed that some months ago I already installed a previous beta version of MoI. Maybe the two different versions (on separate folders) could create some conflicts? I tried to uninstall both and reinstall only the trial version, but I still obtain the expired message.
Anyway, apart this question, I would like to congratulate for your good work. From my first attempts, I like MoI approach, and the simple interface is very effective. So, I probably will buy it soon, but if it would be possible to test it for a bit more time than three days I would be happier :-)

Ciao

Antonino

No, this shouldn't be the problem, the beta expiration and the trial expiration are separate things.

Can you tell me if you got any other messages displayed first, like did any other messages pop up, or was it just the one with the MoI statue/lightbulb picture on it?

Can you please e-mail me at moi@moi3d.com ? I can try to send you a couple of different special trial versions to see if I can figure out what would cause it to expire too soon.

I got a timeout dialog one time when I copied the wrong (old) update dll into the MOI folder - but that doesn't sound like what was done here however...

I say remove everything and reinstall fresh - but wasn't the beta slated to die sometime in mid Februrary anyway?

I've got the same problem (after 2 days of trial). I have a Core 2 Duo, too. (Win XP 32 Bit btw.)

Greetings

Hi oli & Antonino - can you please tell me if you are running a virus checker on the machines where the trial expired too early? If so, which one?

Thanks,
- Michael

Also oli if you can e-mail me as well (moi@moi3d.com) I can send you an alternate trial version to test and see if it solves the premature expire problem.

Thanks,
- Michael

Hi,
same problem here: trial version expired after about 3 hours. I'm running XP on an old AMD 1.7
Will probably buy for the mesher anyway but it would be nice to test it a while longer. Mesher seems to be a lot better than those built into Rhino - and much better than Polytrans. I have had a couple of problems though with some rhino files crashing MOI. Also - is there any sort of layer support? I'm having to break Rhino models down into 1 layer per rhino file and export via MOI as obj in order to keep layers separate for Cinema 4d. Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael, please send me an e-mail at moi@moi3d.com, and I can send you a different trial version that I think fixes the premature expiring problem. This is being tested by a few people so I'm not sure yet if it is completely solved or not yet.

Is it possible to send these files to me so I can test with them?

I currently do not have any other bug reports of MoI crashing when reading .3dm files.

I'll really need an example to be able to figure out what is going wrong with these.

> Also - is there any sort of layer support?

No, not for version 1.0 . There is some round-trip support for layers - that is if you open up a Rhino file with layers and then save it back out as a .3dm file, any objects that you did not edit should retain their old layer information. But this does not apply to exports to different formats than .3dm though.

> Is there a better way to do this?

Not currently. But object organization type tools are going to be a big focus for v2.

Hello!

Same problem here. Installed trial version yesterday (14.02.2008) and it's worked less than 3 hours. It's worked three times and after that says that trial expired. My computer runs with Intel dualcore and win XP pro 32bit. Regional settings are Estonian - that means that date format is dd.mm.yyyy. Maybe that influences?

With best regards,
MuuSer

Hi Michael,

Just trying to buy some time until I can purchase V1. When does the current beta expire by the way?

Thanks again!

Hi Michael.

I'm having the same problem. I installed MoI yesterday and worked with it for a couple of hours.

When Tried to open it today, I got the trial expiration message. I didn't change the dates and as far as I know no system upates where installed since I installed MoI.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit under an administrator account but with User Account Control active (i.e. Vista prompts me to greant admin-level access as required). I tried running MoI as administrator, but that didn't make any difference.

For antivirus, I'm using Microsoft OneCare 1.5.

Hope this helps, and I can't wait for the updated trial :)

Hi StrangeSharp - I have put a new version of the trial up which I think solves the problem with early expiration.

So you can go here: http://moi3d.com/download.htm and download a new one, you can just uninstall the previous one.

Please let me know if you have any other problems with this new one.
