when using MOI, when i save or boolean, or do anything thats seems like intense calculations, with a fairly complex file; the moi screen goes black and the title bar say (not responding). if i click again i get the windows message not responding i then click 'wait for program to respond' option and MOI comes back after a few seconds.

can anything be done about this? i use vista premium if that helps explain.

Hi xrok1 - how complex is the file you are using?

The screen going black is probably some side-effect of Vista's new display manager, it can tend to cause some quirks like this. I've done some work to try and reduce some side effects in some situations, but some things probably will need to be solved by Microsoft.

You may be able to reduce the black screen display by turning off the "Aero" display and switching the desktop theme to "Windows Vista Basic" instead. Or another option is to right-click on MoI.exe and pick Properties / Compatibility tab / check the "Disable desktop composition" option. That will disable Vista's display manager thing just while MoI is running.

Does that make any difference with stuff not turning black at least?

I would think that this would happen more often on file saving than on booleans - there is some work I can do in v2 to reduce this for file saving but for now you just have to wait for it to finish.

"Compatibility tab / check the "Disable desktop composition" option"

that helped. as far as how complex the file is i don't know how to answer that? the file is the one with the intersected clices from my other post; there probably are a few hundred points floating around, so i would consider it fairly complex but thats just my take on it.
