No it's not that!!!
Kerkythea can load the format obj of Moi!!! :)

JUST PUT THE OBJ FILE IN THE FOLDER "MODEL" OF KERKYTHEA!!!

There are some bugs in Kerkythea managed path file!
Another one is about accents of names of folders!!! (for french it's terrific :(
You must save also from Kerkythea in path without names with accents!!!

I use obj to import into Kerkythea and haven't had that problem. Actually, I find the Kerkythea obj importer to be really solid. I've done a test of a reasonably complex MoI model imported as obj into Kerkythea and it loaded perfectly. Did Frenchy Pilou's tip work for you?

it's works for me and it's the only solution for the path with accent !
(conceptors of Kerkythea are agree with me : it's a bug of English hegemony language ;)

Of course yes you have no problem if you have the luck to have an alphabet without accent :)

Hi Mark / Pilou - one other question - does Kerkythea handle n-gons, or is it better to switch to Output: Quads & Triangles or Triangles only when exporting there?

In all the cases Kerkythea accept all options! Ngones, Quads + triangles, triangles, and transform all in triangles!

I don't know yet for the next release Kerkythea Echo january 30 :)

I generally triangulate using MoI for everything I want to import into Kerkythea. That applied to anything I did from truespace too. If I don't, I can sometimes find additional surfaces in my imported obj. So, when I said K obj import was rock solid, I suppose I should have said it has been rock solid for me providing I triangulate in my modeler first. It could of course be bad modeling on my part. I've attached some example images.

Hi Mark,

> It could of course be bad modeling on my part.

Doesn't look like it to me - it looks like a problem with Kerkythea's triangulation mechanism.

But yes, exporting triangulated from MoI (or probably Quads & Triangles should be fine) should avoid this problem.

It's pretty difficult to make a triangulator that handles all kinds of complex concave n-gons properly, if the algorithm gets confused, it is easy for it to try and connect up a triangle between 2 points where it shouldn't because it will cause a "leak" outside of the boundary.

just a question
when you enable "Weld Vertice along edges" in Moi : there is no parameter for the strength of this process?
because seems export obj to Zbrush : when you subdivise in Zb : objects seems unweld after a first subdivision!
I have retaken the wire model by Shadows44
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI_FRANCAIS&msg=103.3
and made some sweep between curves for test :)

Hi Pilou - I seem to remember that ZBrush does some kind of automatic unwelding when it imports .obj files in some circumstances - I think it is when the welded points have different vertex normals for the 2 faces that share the point.

Since ZBrush is doing this unwelding on import, you'll need to do the weld operation inside of ZBrush to fix it up - I don't know what is called, look for something like "weld", or "merge vertices", or "glue vertices"...
