Thanks. I had a funny feeling it was the graphics card, the only problem for me was how to find the date it was manufactured.
I'm off to buy me a new graphics card now.

Hi Ron - be careful when you buy your new card though, you mentioned your old one was PCI. That is not really a common type of video card anymore so you may have some difficulty finding one of those in something like a local computer store (although you can order one online).

You'll want to know if your computer has an "AGP" slot in it or not.

If it does, then you'll probably want to get an AGP video card, which is more modern (although now being phased out itself) and has a lot more choices.
