Hi Phil - you can install it on both of your computers, just as long as it is only actively running on only a single one of them at a time.

So just one copy should work fine for you.

Hi Diego

> Hi Michael
> first, congrats!!!

Thanks! :)

> Second, how about educational discounts or special pricing
> for faculty?

I haven't really got this all figured out yet, but I would like to offer some kind of faculty discount. If you can contact me through e-mail at moi@moi3d.com we can try to figure something out.

I probably won't have a student discount at first, there is just a lot of overhead for me to try and verify student status with ids and such... I don't really want to mess with that quite yet.

Actually the current full price is already at what several other CAD programs have as their discounted price!

But one thing that I was thinking of was maybe offering a special version that was limited to run for only one year's worth of time for a pretty reduced price and having that for a student version, do you think that would be of any use or not?

> There's also the issue of licensing - is it attached to a computer or to the
> person, in other words, would I be able to install a license on one machine
> at the office and another at home?

It's attached to the person, you can install it on all the machines you use just as long as you only have it actively running on just a single one at a time.

So just one license should work fine for you to have at both the office and at home.

Near the bottom of the form, there is an option for "Method of Payment":

There are several different options you can switch to, including "Paypal".

This is a great news for the 3D community.
With MOI, you build the bridge that didn't exist between polygonal and CAD worlds.

I bet MOI will change the way people consider NURBS.

Hi George, thanks very much for your order!

Sorry for the delay with the extra verification step, I think that should be all cleared up by tomorrow.

If not, please send me an e-mail at moi@moi3d.com and I can send you your download link and license key information.

Hi Alexis, thanks for your confidence!

I've had a lot of people mention similar stuff to me, that they were watching NURBS kind of dying out in the CGI world, with all of the new energy going only into poly/subd and brush displacement type stuff.

One thing that really stood in the way was export quality from NURBS to polygons. It seems that a lot of CGI-focused people gave up on using NURBS when they had difficulties getting good quality meshes generated from their models.

This is a really key area that I put a lot of effort into with MoI - having that part work better makes it a lot more feasible to make use of NURBS as a kind of supplementary tool along side of polygons for areas where NURBS has benefits, like industrial / mechanical type things...

Congratulations Michael,

I am Marco alias "marcorhino" and I would like to buy the software MOI. Country ITALY. How does it buy? To part the payment, the software comes sent at home as time or possible to unload it a time paid?

And the invoice is valid in Italy?

Thanks

Marco,

You can very easily buy online using one of the various options (credit card, PayPal...)
Once your payment is validated you will receive an e-mail containing a link to download the software and a serial number.
You can ask to receive a CD when your purchase (for an additional amount of 7.04 EUR) but I'm not sure you really need it... :-)

Current price of MoI in Euro is 139.00 EUR. You will have to pay VAT, probably depending on VAT rate in Italy. From Belgium, the total purchase price for MoI (incl 21% VAT) was 168.19 EUR

Congratulations!! Michael, Thanks for bringing Moi to the world (you have made this sculptor very happy) I am able to conceive and build actual 3D projects faster than any other app I have worked with. Please continue to develop Moi and keep it intuiitive ( a gargantuan task I know, but I have got a good feeling about you I believe you can) like it is now, you are not overwhelmed with software you can just focus on that moment of inspiration :)
Peace.

Michael,

You've released a software you can really be proud of ! Congratulations !
I've been using the beta since August 2006 and it's always been a lot of fun.

It's strange to think that I'm now one of your customers ! ;-)

Thanks for creating MoI and for the excellent support during the beta test period. I wish you a lot of success with this first release. Can't wait to see what future versions will bring to us !

Greetings

Schbeurd

Hi Petr, this is still possible.

After you fill in your license key the first time, MoI will create a file that stores it, named "moi_v1_license.key". This file is located along side the moi.ini file, which on XP is stored under:
C:\Documents and Settings\ [your login name] \Application Data\Moi

On Vista on Win7 look under here:
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Moi\

If you copy that moi_v1_license.key file into the same folder as moi.exe on your USB stick, it will find it there when it starts up and you won't have to enter your key again.

You should also copy your moi.ini file over to the same place as moi.exe, so that you can bring your settings with you as well.

So with those 2 files copied over, your copy of MoI will be fully portable and you can take it along with you.

This is one of the cool features of MoI - most software these days does not allow you to do this!

Please let me know if you run into any problems with running in this way.

- Michael
