Do you also have IE6 installed?

Just a quick note - this turned out to be a problem with the MSXML Windows system component (which is one part of IE) on Maffi's system. The system registry entries for this particular thing were messed up.

Re-installing IE6, and also applying this MSXML update for good measure solved the problem.
