Feature request

Hi, Michael.

Feature request:
*Join/divide points, or weld points so that they are permanently joined.

Troubleshooting:
Sometimes I try to cut a curve with another curve, and it will cut where it suppose to, but sometimes cut some other random point on that curve as well. Any suggestions? I have the file attached. Cut that circle shape with that line, and it will show two cuts instead of one.

Thanks

Each closed curve has so called "seam" - it means the point where the start end end of curve touch - the "random" point is a location of the seam when you trim/split the closed curve by open one (only one intersection between curves exists) or by point.

Hi Pilou!

Please see here: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1228.2 for how to set up a shortcut key to keep construction lines past the end of a command.

Hi Val,

Could you please describe this one some more? You are talking about curve control points here?

Hmm, like Petr mentions that is probably the "seam point" of the curve for the first control point in the list of points.

But this looks like a bug, because with a smooth curve like that it is supposed to automatically fuse that seam point together instead of showing it. In fact, when cutting a smooth curve closed curve like this with only one point, it is supposed to actually do nothing because you should need 2 cutting locations to actually divide the curve into different portions.

So I'll see if I can fix this up when I return next week.

In the meantime, if you run into this you can allow it to be split at the extra point, and then use Join to glue the pieces back together again, also if you turn on control points and delete the point where 2 segments join, that will fuse them together into one segment.

Thanks for posting the example file to help track down the problem.

The measure of the first curve is very very tiny so not easy to move, rotate...;)

That should be possible for v2. For v1 there isn't any mechanism for selecting construction lines, so that's why this wasn't added for v1.

Do you want to add it to the Wiki wishlist?

Sorry for the late reply I forgot this was my thread, lol!

I am glad you found this to be a possible bug, now it might be fixed! ^_^

For the feature request you understood me correct. I meant the guide points on the lines. The reason for that is if you can merge two lines at a point they can become a single curve. This is not as crucial as some of the other feature requests, it is just something nice to have. It can be placed in the "add new point".

Oh, and I keep forgetting you are on your vacation, sorry about all this posts.

Cheers

This was indeed a bug, and I have fixed it up now.

Thanks for posting the example file, that really helps to track things down!
