Regenerate option?

Hey guys,
is there any sort of regenerate or rebuild option in MOI?
Here is what I did, I made a model that is like a remote control.
But I was not too careful when I built the body, so one side was not identical to the other.
after I finished building the whole model, I cut it in half and deleted one side.
then I mirrored and "joined' the to halves together.
Upon export and import to my 3d rendering app, the side that was mirrored and attached to the
original side has aritfacts all over it.

thanks for any info,
Mike Fitz

Hi Mike, there isn't really any kind of command like "regenerate" or "rebuild" currently in MoI.

It is difficult to figure out what might have gone wrong without having the actual model to analyze. Can you please post it here or send it to me at moi@moi3d.com?

But I won't really have a chance to check it out until after I return from vacation next week though.

For a quick workaround for the time being, you could export just the original half (that seems to be working ok) to your 3d rendering program and then mirror the other half over there. That might solve your immediate problem.

Is it possible that your objects have a very large or very small scale to them? Like very small in units size (less than 0.001 or something), or very large like more than 100,000 units?

Hi all,

I think that the 'Rebuild' funtion need to be in MoI. If imported curves are not so good -many points, kink, etc -, these need to be adjusted to get good surfaces and solid.

Thanks,
momso

Hi Momso, I do plan to add it for V2.

For V1 I just did not have enough time to work on it, the tricky part is finding a good place in the UI to place it.

I'm thinking of putting in a kind of object properties panel that would show up automatically in the upper-right corner area when something was selected. It would only show up when you were in selection mode (when you are not running inside of a command). It will take some time to experiment with this though, so that's why I postponed it until v2.
