Ellipse Arc Script/Code?

Hello Michael,

Thank you for creating MoI3D, I wholeheartedly appreciate it!

The simplicity of the application and most especially your Ellipse Arc tool is incredible. I have used Ellipse Arc to play with Ancient Greek mouldings. The ability to play around with the major and minor endpoints, plus the distance of both is so much fun! I also enjoy using MoI3D for vector graphic logos, which I then import into illustrator.

However, at the moment, I need to use Rhino much more, for many of its surfacing tools and ability to make technical drawings from 3D models for architecture. Unfortunately it doesn't have an Ellipse Arc feature. I have started a forum post there to ask if one could be created (https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/feature-request-ellipse-arc-for-ancient-greek-mouldings/204725). However it seems to be quite a complex piece of code.

I completely understand if you don't wish to, seeing as you moved from Rhino3D many years ago to make MoI3D; and most especially as it is your proprietary software. However would you be open to sharing the script/code, that goes into your Ellipse Arc feature, so the team at Rhino3D could use it there. Or even just some guidance around what goes into it.

Your help would mean a great deal to me.

I understand if your answer is no, and I give my sincere apologies if this was rude of me to even ask for.

Wishing you well,
Charles

Hi Charles, I'm sorry but it does not make sense business wise for me to give away functions in MoI's source code.

However, the elliptical arc generation is not actually a very complicated calculation. The current Rhino developers would not have any problems figuring out how to replicate it without needing the actual code.
