Can't get the grid to display

Good afternoon,

Okay, I'm stumped. The grid simply won't display. Worse, it just simply stopped displaying in everything but the Top View. I didn't touch the preferences or anything, it just stopped. Is there any way to activate the grid for all of the windows? I've tried using various tutorials on Youtube as well as reading the online PDF, but nothing activates the grid for all views. I'm sure this will be something very obviously simple that I'm missing, but at this point I'm slowly going mad so I thought I'd ask here.

Thank you!

Bob

Hi Bob, can you please e-mail me your .3dm file at moi@moi3d.com ?

The grid is centered at the 0,0,0 origin point, are your other views located a long distance away from there?

I notice you have an x coordinate value of 11082 showing in the XYZ control on the bottom toolbar.

Many thanks! Email sent. Yeah, the weird part was that it just "reset" like this on its own. I opened the file last night and there it was. The grid was there before, but not afterwards.

Hi Bob, it's because your object is located up a long ways in Z.

It's ok in x and y and in the top view you only can see x and y values , that's why you can see the grid ok in that view.

But in the other views the 0,0,0 origin point where the grid is centered on is way far off screen downwards.

So you need to move your objects down in Z, you can use the Transform > Move command to do that. Put the base point on the object and then type 0 <enter> for the second point to move it to 0,0,0 . If you're using V5 you can also use "Set XYZ" for the 2nd point to only change the z value and not change x/y values.
