Saving a file copy in MOI's default file format while keeping the original filename and location?

Hello Michael,

I receive a bunch of files from the client in .stp format, which I open in MOI3D v4 to clean up the parts. The default save file format in MOI is .3dm, so I always save the cleaned version as a copy by pressing "save." Unfortunately, I lose the original filename and location, and the file always gets saved with my Windows account name as the filename and the folder as "C:\Users."

Could you please tell me if it is possible to retain the opened file's filename and location so that I can save the cleaned .3dm copy in the same location as the original .stp file?

It's not a big deal when I process 5 files, but when it's 50, it becomes quite annoying.

Thank you a lot in advance.

Hi brr, there is a setting you can adjust in moi.ini that I think will do what you want.

In MOI go to Options > General > "Edit .ini file" button.

The .ini file will open up in Notepad. Than find the [Settings] section find
SetNameWhenOpeningAllFileTypes=n

Change that to have =y

Thanks, - Michael
