Violin Scroll 2025

I am very happy with the efforts made to create a violin scroll.
The plans were created by Frank Nichols, based mainly upon the Stradivarius Messiah violin, with help and advice from others, on the Maestronet forum. The .pdf was opened in MoI, and scaled, in millimeters. The geometry seemed to have a lot of faults when zoomed in, so some adjustments were made. So things will not be perfect. The main effort was to locate 25 points on the 2d Scroll Center Curve, and make a list with the associated needed Z values, using the circle divider/compass half-width radii.
Copy the 2d scroll and its 25 points to a blank MoI screen.
Unwrap the 2d scroll, and re-locate it to the X axis. (Some of the Y values are .00004, etc., and were later set to 0.)
Select the 25 points on the 2d scroll, and Flow them. The 2d scroll is the base curve, the unwrap line is the target.
This places the 27-2 points on the unwrap line, on the X axis, with the same arc length spacing as on the 2d scroll.
Use PointCoordinate script on each point, one at a time, and Copy the clipboard each time to form one line, (one point (x,y,z coordinates with z = 0) per point. Two points were removed, as their z values seemed to be wrong.
Create a comma delimited point coordinate txt file in Notepad++.
Edit the txt file, by zeroing out y values, and replacing z=o values with the actual (half) width (radius) values.
Use the script Import Point Values, using the point coordinate txt file. Do this twice, one with Point output, and again with Control point curve output. Deleted the two bad z value points. The Interpcurve curve was too wiggly IMHO.
Extrude the unwrap line, up past the Control point curve, and trim the extrusion with the Control point curve.
The result is a planar ribbon.
Flow the planar ribbon back onto the 2d scroll curve, using the unwrap line as base, and 2d scroll curve as target.
This creates the Violin scroll, (half ribbon). Mirror and Boolean.
(The scroll is not done yet.)

There is an Ionic scroll done on the MoI forum, to provide inspiration to finish the scroll.

(There are some violin ribbon strips which could be downloaded, making it much easier to flow to the 2d scroll, and create the 3d scroll curve, and the scroll sides, and Duck Tail.)

Very nice organic geometry.
