Hi All,

I'm clearly not getting filleting. The yellow line show what I would like filleted but when ever I do, the fillet extends beyond the lines:

What am I not getting?

Thank you in advance!
Gunter

Hi Gunter, so a couple of things - first, the piece I'm showing here in yellow is a separate object:

If you click and drag on it you can see that you can freely move it separate from the other piece:

So that's one thing - edge fillets do not know how to cross over to some other totally separate object, the objects need to be combined together for the pieces to fillet with each other.

Hi Gunter, so the other thing is the fillet will get extended because a spot like this is not a place where a fillet can end:

The fillet wants to intersect with a kind of "capping face" and there is not any such face at that spot.

So instead of opening up a hole in the object there, it will continue on until it finds a suitable face for the fillet to be intersected with like this one shown in yellow here:

Hey Michael, thank you for the detailed explanation.
In my file I actually booleaned the 2 parts so they are one but if I'd like to fillet the part to the end of the yellow line, what would you suggest I do?

Hi Gunter, it kind of looks like there is a little shelf-like structure in this area here:

I'll see if I can clear that out for you to give fillets a better chance.

Hey Michael, you're right, I deleted that rectangle and it worked!
Thank you so much!

Hello,

Booleans can be a good option in this case.

1. Draw solid > Box
2. Draw curve > Circles aligned to Box
3. Select circles, Construct > Boolean > Isect
4. Select box, Construct > Boolean > Diff, select isect solid
5. Draw curve > Circles, align, select circle, Construct > Extrude
6. Select hollowed box solid, Construct > Boolean > Diff, select cylinder
7. Fillet box / cylinder edges
8. Fillet inside box edges

Boolean Box
