why do I get the following with the blend tool
a nice rounded ferbindg with this simple example?

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Andreas, it's hard to tell from a screenshot, it helps a lot if you can also please post the .3dm model file.

But my best guess without being able to analyze the model is that you likely have an end cap surface at the planar ends of those shapes.

When you have that it means the edge you are blending from is attached to 2 surfaces, and it will basically be random which of the 2 will be picked to align the blend to.

To solve that, delete the end cap faces so the edge you are blending from belongs to only one face.
