Joining and Filleting

Hi All,

This is a ring where I'd like to join the section on top with the ring itself:

I've tried extruding etc but I need to make the top section solid as well.

After the top section joins the ring, I'd like to fillet the joins for a smooth connection.

Could someone please explain how to do this?

Many thanks in advance!
Gunter

The little difficulty is that your lateral section(s) is not "plane" so you must goto it inside the existing yellow ring
for hide the segment...so surely redraw it with any method! (gap)
The 2 other surfaces are "regular"
Then just Sweeps will make the trick to the end
and after you can make anything you want, Booleans, Fillets etc...

If you move points of surface there is a little gap...

Hi Gunter, it looks like you solved this on the other piece in the same file, by constructing some additional pieces going downwards here:

Is there something about your previous solution that you don't like?

I'm not understanding right now why not just mirror the one you extended already?

Hi Gunter, also there is a plugin that could help here which can extend surfaces:

http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=9747.7

I made the attached version by using that FlowExtendSrf plugin to lengthen the surfaces like this:

Using FlowExtendSrf:

After the surface extension, these 3 surfaces need to be retrimmed with these edges:

Then use Edit > Join to glue all the top object's surfaces together and then the top and bottom can be combined using Trim or also Boolean Union.
