Hi lyes - thank you, I'm glad you like MoI!

It is possible to use some scripting to make the top viewport show on startup.

To do this, copy the attached settop.js file to somewhere on your hard drive.

Then you need to modify the shortcut that you use to launch MoI, and modify it to pass that settop.js file name as a command-line parameter.

To do that, right-click on the shortcut icon and pick "Properties". A dialog will come up and it will have a Target: entry that looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\MoI beta Nov-18-2007\MoI.exe"

Change that to add the complete path to the settop.js file after it. Put " " quotes around it if there are any spaces in the path. So it should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\MoI beta Nov-18-2007\MoI.exe" "c:\MoI scripts\settop.js"

Now when you launch MoI using that shortcut, it should come up with the Top view set by default.

Note - this will only work if you have the latest Nov-18 beta.

Let me know if you have any problems setting this up.

Eventually I want to have a "Template file" type mechanism in MoI where you can choose a template file to start with, that would be an easier way to set this up. But this method should work for now.

- Michael

Hi lyes,

Re: "select all same"

You can do this currently, if you install a custom command "SelectByType", see http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1106.1.

Hi lyes, thanks very much for preparing that video, that is very clear!

I want to add something very similar to this in V2 - currently my idea is to place a properties panel for the selected object in the upper-right corner of the window, where options for commands normally display.

When you are not in a command you might notice that there is a blank area there currently - that's where I want to put it. I'd like to make it possible to change basic properties, like the length of a line or the radius of a circle.

But unfortunately it will be quite difficult to enable changing the length or angle of a line that is a segment joined to other curves. That's what is called "constraint-based" modeling, and it requires a pretty sophisticated recalculation engine that modifies all the surrounding pieces. I don't think it will be possible for me to achieve that particular part anytime soon.

Thanks for the video! I've added a link back to here to the wishlist on the wiki: http://moi3d.com/wiki/Wishlist, so it will be easier to refer back to it later.
