Blending

Hi,
it's about blending.
I haven't worked with moi for a long time. Now I've lost my skills. I used to be good at blending.
But I can no longer manage to close the lid nicely at the top with blending.
It probably has to do with the separation of the lines at the top. But I get the blend to work even if I join the two quarters of one half.
Where is the trick please?
Cheers, Mala

Hi Mala, try with the attached version, it should be able to blend ok now.

Your curves had a sharp corner in this spot:

I fixed that by moving control points so that these 3 points were all on one line which makes the curves smooth to each other:

That worked very well. Thank you very much, Michael!
I tried to reproduce your described correction (via "rebuild" command) but I had to fall back to your version because it must be something else. But never mind.
Good - in principle I'm almost there.

However, the placement using FlowTool is not quite successful yet. I can't connect the components with each other. Although it actually looks good.
What is the tiny detail here that prevents it from coming together?
Cheers, Mala

Another (simpler) version. Here I've removed the junctions between the small surfaces and the main surface. I had to use "merge.js" to desegment the edges of the smallest surface and the edges of the live main surface. Then "Blend" and finally join.

...huiii, Zooen, that's wonderful..and shows me once more my limitations in the beloved moi (and other too). Thank you very much!
I hope I can incorporate it into my model!

Because I'm already having trouble using merge.js. I guess it is one of the scripts which exists?

The best thing would be to build it accurately from the start and not have to make improvements afterwards, as is the case now.

If anyone else knows what the problem might be, I would be grateful for a brief hint.

I'll add the raw MOI data here again.

Hi mala,
your objects need trimming before you can join them.
They stick thro the base plane and therefore stick thro the target plane.
So trim the objects and target plane then join.
That's if I understand what your trying to achieve.
Cheers
Barry

Hi Barry,
I let the two objects on the base plane pass through so that they would also pass through the curved surface everywhere during the flow operation.
I remember that if they didn't pass through during the flow operation, there were difficulties cutting the surfaces further down the line.

I´m clear now. The problem was, I think, that i did the trim operations for the both applications. Now I did it step by step and it worked.
Thanks for your empathies...
Mala
