The meridional plane view.

The meridional plane view.

In Optics in the past, The meridional plane was used to illustrate and design optical lenses. The meridional plane is in a Right Hand 3D axis system. MoI uses a Right Hand axis system as well.

The meridional z-axis (mz-axis) shows up on the paper or screen from left to right. The mr-axis shows up from bottom to top.

To show this meridional plane in MoI Top View, I propose plotting the optical layout by assignment as follows:

MoI x-axis is assigned the mz values.
MoI y-axis is assigned the mx values of zero.
MoI z-axis is assigned the mr values.

Unless the MoI axi can be renamed.

So for personal use, change x,y,z to z,x,y in the options view menu, for a meridional Front View.

The 3D view can be rotated to get the axi lined up to meridional, but Front view does not match.
