I have been working on a model of a large indoor room which I wish to be covered with 1 foot 1 foot, "no skid" textured rubber floor tiles. Each tile would be the exact same one foot square which has 16 x 16 disc "no slip" round tread pattern. Modeling one individual tile is no problem at all, and I can exactly recreate the idealized version of this type commercially available rubber floor tile. However, covering a large area of the modeled room with this tile balloons the size of the file and quickly create a massive number of shape/objects. A 20 foot by 20 foot grid of these tiles would consist of 102,400 shallow no skid raised round shapes.
Is there a way or method where the file simply uses the exact same tile description (with different x, y and/or z positioning and rotation angles, etc.) without it needing to create the hundreds of thousands of the sub component "bumps" since the tiles are identical?
I'm probably seeking something that has an obvious solution which I am missing, but being able to create seamless repeatable 3D patterns that can be "mapped" into a model or "scene" as it were, is really something I am hoping there is a solution for from within MoI.
Thanks in advance.
