Hi Micheal,

As the models get bigger and more info contained within the moi files could there be an option to deep hide or lock hide layers and objects that can be used as initial reference data which when using the HIDE and UNHIDE button remain hidden and only will show up when the deep hide function is released.

Just food for thought are any other suggestions for a work around. I current build a background file that I copy and paste those elements in the current document that I am working on as a work around.

thanks
Alex.

Hi Alex, the problem is that I suspect having 2 different kinds of hiding could lead to confusing situations. Like if you receive a file from someone else you might not know that they used "deep hide" and get surprised that showing all objects did not actually show all the objects.

There are some other options you can use currently with the Edit > Hide button instead of just showing everything.

One is if you right click on Edit > Hide it will trigger an "isolate" function where just the selected objects will remain showing and everything else will hide. But the pre-isolate state is kept in memory and when you trigger the isolate a second time things will return to their pre-isolate state and objects that were originally hidden will remain hidden.

The other thing is if you Ctrl+click on the Edit > Hide button it will trigger a "show subset" function where all hidden objects will be shown and you can select the ones you want to unhide, the ones you don't select will remain hidden after you finish the selection.

using the software daily and still finding hidden features see how it goes in the workflow.
