While looking up STEP file Colors, as per Andy's post, this analyzer, ( dated 2021 ), showed up:

https://www.nist.gov/services-resources/software/step-file-analyzer-and-viewer

(Old pdf link:) There is a PDF in the zip dated 2021-2023
https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/GOVPUB-C13-81540483507fe73691ffd13c46408b96/pdf/GOVPUB-C13-81540483507fe73691ffd13c46408b96.pdf

I have no idea if it is any good, or useful.

I finally managed to install the program, without harming my computer, (AFAIK)

Added the NIST icon to the Task bar, Windows 11.

It seems to be an obstreperous program. And feature rich. May have to read the user manual pdf...
(Edit: perhaps obstreperous is a poor choice of description. More like "duh, now what do I select or do...",

It can make an Excel spreadsheet, with various information on the step file.

The view of Andy's STEP file COIA-CORE.step is very crisp and nice, and seems to have the "correct" colors.

Limited testing and preliminary opinions...

The Moi view of Andy's file is also very very good.

First time I've heard that adjective applied to software, though I do recall Mom using it to refer to me... ;-}
