Hi all, I am new to blender and want to import a scene from MOI into blender to render. If I make the scene 300mm in moi it imports into the viewport no problem but the scene is 30m and want retain the correct scale it blows out of view port and I can see it. My unit under scene properties is metric unit scale 1. Any advice from the blender gurus welcome.

thanks Alex.

Hi Alex, what type of file format are you using for the transfer?

You might try FBX format since that format has a setting in it that says what unit system is being used.

OBJ format for example does not have any way in it to store the unit system.

HI Alex, there is an option in MoI that you can use for that currently. In MoI go to Options > Import/Export > FBX options and set the option for "FBX version" to something later than 2010/6.1 .

If you want you can set Apply Transformations in the import dialog. This will set the scale to zero and make the model, well correctly transformed.
I had been using OBJ but after Micheal's comment I thought I would give FBX another go, it works perfectly.

Its easy to get stuck in old work flow formats and miss new formats after using STL and OBJ for decades its time to move - a new FBX fanboy!
