Is there a script for MOI to search for objects by name with their selection?
Unfortunately, I do not know if there is a search on the forum, so I created a topic.

if objects are named they are automatically in alphabetic order! ;)

PS there is search engine on the forum!

Hi Ksorks, you can select objects by typed in name by putting in your name in the XYZ point input control in the bottom command bar.

Also you can put focus in that control using the Tab key. You can use wildcard characters * to match anything or ? to match any character.

So for example to select everything with a name that starts with BX, type the Tab key, then type BX* and push Enter. Every object that starts with "BX" will then get selected.

If that's not what you were looking for can you please explain what you need in a bit more detail please.

It's somewhat buried though.

Would it make some sense to add a magnifier icon that would trigger a text field in which the user could type in strings?
That could filter objects in realtime in the object list.

The search string behaving like if the * would be added automatically.

It would make sense to do that and I want to do that. Having Groups was just a higher priority for the scene browser for v5.
