Hello all,

I've modeled out a shelving component and i was wondering if there is a quicker way to extract solid into 2d vector for CNC. As for now im linking each individual polyline from 3D model into 2D and its a little time consuming.

Is there a quicker way? Thanks alot.

BTW ive tried to attached file here but im getting "internal error"

Hi Shamrock,

re:

Is it a very large sized file? If it's over 10MB then it won't be able to be uploaded directly here, you will need to use a file sharing service like DropBox, OneDrive, WeTransfer, etc... for very large files and then share just the link here.

There isn't anything built in to moi to expedite that but there are other CAD programs that could help with that type of CNC preparation.

Probably check out Fusion360.

Or also there are probably some Rhino plug-ins that would help with this:

Hi Shamrock,

re:

Sorry no MoI is focused more on the drawing and modeling areas and not on CNC processing functions.

You should be able to find other software that could help with that area though.

I am currently working in an office where the owners are designing and building new pin ball game machines using MOI3D and a massive CNC router.

While I don't know the specifics, I do know that the designer uses MOI3D STYLES to export to Adobe Illustrator files in layers as part of the workflow. Each layer defines not only the shape; but, the tools and depth of the cutter. I will be in the office on Friday and will see what I can learn about his workflow.

Great tip!

I would say the make2d script will also work if there is an option to generate the topview only (depends how it is drawn).
after this to be imported in Vectric apps to generate the toolpaths.
